New ID Card Logos for HealthEOS
Have you noticed that there are new ID card logos for members accessing HealthEOS networks? The current HealthEOS ID card logos will be phased out as ID cards are reprinted at plan renewals beginning in 2011. Please continue to accept these logos, along with the new versions, at your contracted rates. Click here to download a logo reference sheet that will help you notify your administrative staff.

HIPAA 5010/ICD-10
As you know, the Federal Government, through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is driving the healthcare industry to upgrade core HIPAA transactions to 5010 standards by January 1, 2012 and update diagnosis and procedure coding standards to ICD-10 by October 1, 2013. MultiPlan is already prepared to accept 5010 files and is in the process of testing 5010 files with our clients. We have also begun communicating with clients about ICD-10 and will continue to do so to help ensure a smooth transition. Learn more about our ICD-10 plans here.

National Provider Identifier Compliance
Providers are required to include their National Provider Identifier (NPI) on all electronic claims as mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Claims payers and clearinghouses, both of which are required to recognize only a provider's NPI as the provider identifier on all electronic claims, may reject electronic claims that do not contain the provider's NPI. Although not yet required on paper claims, we recommend that providers include NPI on all paper claims to facilitate processing.
